CRISISCON™
The Crisis and Emergency Communication Summit You Build Together.
Not a conference you attend. A live operating environment you commission — designed, architected, and facilitated by the RISKCOMMS team, for your city, your sector, and your people.
Slides Don't Prepare You for a Crisis or Emergency. Pressure Does.
Most crisis and emergency communication training happens in a room, with a presenter, and a deck. It's passive. It's theoretical. And when the real thing hits — a pandemic, a disaster, a reputational emergency — none of it fires.
CRISISCON™ was built on a different premise: that the only way to build genuine crisis and emergency communication capability is to put people under real pressure, in real time, with real consequences — before the crisis or emergency arrives.
We Live in a Permacrisis. Your Communication Can't Be Siloed Anymore.
Crises and emergencies no longer arrive one at a time. A public health emergency triggers an economic shock. A climate event exposes infrastructure failures. A misinformation surge undermines institutional trust — across every sector simultaneously.
This is the polycrisis reality: overlapping, accelerating threats that don't respect organisational boundaries, sector mandates, or communication hierarchies.
And yet most organisations still train in isolation. Government communicators in one room. Corporate teams in another. NGOs somewhere else entirely. Each building capability — but none building coordination.
CRISISCON™ was designed for this world. Not to replace your internal training — but to stress-test it. In a shared environment. With the people you'll actually need to coordinate with when it matters.
A Two-Day Live Operating Environment.
CRISISCON™ is a fully immersive, scenario-driven summit. No panels. No passive learning. Participants rotate through six high-intensity formats designed to build muscle memory, sharpen judgment, and forge cross-sector coordination.
LIVE CRISIS & EMERGENCY INJECTS
Evolving scenarios with real-time pressure. Participants lead, respond, and adapt — building the reflexes that matter when it counts.
REVERSE PANELS
Participants speak first. Experts respond. No speeches, no slides — just on-demand insight when you need it most.
SKILLS LABS
Hands-on, tactical workshops. Draft crisis and emergency communications in under five minutes. Cut paralysis. Build speed.
INTELLIGENCE BRIEFINGS
Sharp, 10-minute updates on emerging risks and communication trends — curated for your sector.
TOOL TEST ZONES
Test real tools under simulated conditions. No vendor demos — just decisions. Keep what works. Cut the rest.
CROSS-SECTOR DRILLS
Public safety, corporate comms, NGOs, and community leaders — training shoulder to shoulder. Because real crises and emergencies don't respect sector boundaries.
Crises or Emergencies Do not Pick Their Sector. Neither Do We.
CRISISCON™ is designed for communication professionals, emergency managers, public affairs teams, and senior leaders across:
Government & Public Institutions
City authorities, regulators, public health agencies
Corporate & C-Suite
Communications, legal, operations, and executive leadership
NGOs & International Organisations
Field teams, advocacy leads, humanitarian responders
Cross-Sector Coalitions
Any group that needs to coordinate messaging across organisational boundaries
Your City. Your Sector. Your CRISISCON™.
CRISISCON™ is not a touring event with fixed dates. It's a format — a proprietary methodology — that organisations commission and co-own.
1. FORM A COALITION
Two or more organisations in the same city or sector pool their budgets and commit to a shared run of CRISISCON™. This keeps costs manageable and maximises cross-sector value.
2. WE ARCHITECT IT TOGETHER
The RISKCOMMS team designs the scenarios, injects, and programme around your specific context — your risks, your stakeholders, your sector pressures.
3. WE FACILITATE. YOU LEAD.
On the day, our team runs the operating environment. Your people lead, respond, and build capability in real time.
4. YOU LEAVE WITH MORE THAN MEMORIES
Participants leave with shared playbooks, unified messaging frameworks, and the cross-sector relationships that make coordinated response possible.
RiskComms Expertise
RiskComms is a leading global consultancy in crisis, risk, and emergency communication. With over 25 years of field experience, our team has advised UN agencies, national governments, and global NGOs through pandemics, disasters, and misinformation crises and emergencies — across more than 25 countries.
CRISISCON™ is our proprietary format — built from the ground up to close the gap between theory and performance. Every scenario, inject, and skills lab is architected around the The Communication Nexus Framework(IP) (CNF) — our field-tested model for managing communication across the full arc of a crisis or emergency.
The CNF organises crisis and emergency communication around four interconnected disciplines:
ANTICIPATE
Read the signals before the storm. Build situational awareness and scenario readiness before pressure hits.
ENGAGE
Communicate with speed, clarity, and credibility at the critical moment. Reach the right audiences with the right message in real time.
SUSTAIN
Maintain credibility and coherence over time. Manage fatigue, narrative drift, and evolving stakeholder needs across a prolonged crisis or emergency.
RESTORE
Rebuild institutional confidence and public credibility after the acute phase. Turn the aftermath into a foundation for long-term resilience.
CRISISCON™ is designed to pressure-test every dimension of your communication capability — in a controlled environment, before it counts for real.
Everything You Need to Know.
ABOUT THE FORMAT
What exactly is CRISISCON™ — is it a conference or a training?
Neither, and both. CRISISCON™ is a live operating environment — a two-day immersive format that combines scenario-driven simulation, hands-on skills labs, and cross-sector coordination exercises. It is designed to build real communication capability under real pressure. Think less conference, more command exercise.
How long does it run?
CRISISCON™ is a two-day format. The exact schedule is designed around your context, your participants, and your objectives — but plan for two full, intensive days.
How many participants can it accommodate?
CRISISCON™ can accommodate up to 100 participants per run — the maximum for a format of this intensity. Smaller, more focused cohorts are equally welcome and often equally powerful.
Who designs and facilitates CRISISCON™?
CRISISCON™ is designed and led by Philippe Borremans and a multicultural team of senior crisis, risk, and emergency communication professionals — all with extensive experience in the field, not just the classroom. Together, we have designed and facilitated simulations ranging from tabletop exercises to full-scale multi-agency drills, working with some of the world's most demanding organisations — including United Nations and international humanitarian agencies, governments and major multinationals. When we build your scenarios, we draw on what we have actually seen, managed, and learned under pressure.
ABOUT COMMISSIONING
Do we have to find other organisations to co-sponsor, or can we run it alone?
Both models work. The co-sponsorship model — where two or more organisations in the same city or sector pool resources to commission a run — is designed to maximise cross-sector value and distribute costs. But a single-organisation, bespoke run is equally possible if you prefer a more focused, internal format.
What do we get as a co-sponsoring organisation?
Co-sponsors get a fully customised run of CRISISCON™ — scenarios, injects, and programme content designed around your shared context and risks. You also get the cross-sector relationships, shared playbooks, and unified response frameworks that come from training alongside your real-world partners.
ABOUT THE CONTENT
Is the programme the same every time, or is it customised?
Every run is customised. The CNF framework and the six core format pillars are consistent — but the scenarios, injects, and skills lab content are built around your sector, your risks, and your participants. No two runs are identical.
What language is it delivered in?
CRISISCON™ can be delivered in English or French. English is the default for most professional and cross-sector cohorts, given its role as the lingua franca in international and institutional settings. If your context requires French — or a bilingual format — we can accommodate that.
PRACTICALITIES
Where can it be hosted?
Typically, the commissioning organisation or coalition provides the venue. We can advise on space requirements and setup — and in cases where sourcing a venue is a challenge, we can support that process too.
How far in advance do we need to plan?
We recommend starting the conversation at least three to four months before your intended run date. Customising the scenarios, coordinating across co-sponsors, and preparing the facilitation team takes time — and the earlier we start, the better the result.
Can we meet before committing to anything?
Always. The interest form is just the beginning of a conversation. There is no obligation at any stage until you are ready.
Ready to Commission a Run?
Whether you're exploring this for your organisation alone or want to build a coalition with peers in your city or sector — start here. No commitment. Just a conversation.
